McIlroy and Schauffele Set for Epic Duel in Final Round of Wells Fargo Championship
The stage is set for an epic duel between Rory McIlroy and Xander Schauffele in the final round of the 2024 Wells Fargo Championship. McIlroy carded a bogey-free 67 on Saturday to close the gap on Schauffele, who leads by one shot heading into the final round.
The final round will be played at Quail Hollow Club in North Carolina. McIlroy and Schauffele will tee off at 1:45 p.m. ET.
McIlroy Heats Up
McIlroy’s bogey-free 67 on Saturday was his best round of the week. He made seven birdies and no bogeys to move into contention.
“I’m feeling good about my game,” McIlroy said after his round. “I’m hitting the ball well and I’m making some putts. I know I need to go out there and play a bogey-free round tomorrow if I want to win, but I’m up for the challenge.”
Schauffele Looks to Hold On
Schauffele has been the leader for most of the week. He will be looking to hold off McIlroy’s charge in the final round.
“I know Rory is playing well,” Schauffele said. “But I’m focused on my own game. I need to go out there and execute my shots. If I do that, I like my chances.”
An Epic Duel in the Making
The final round of the Wells Fargo Championship promises to be an epic duel between two of the best golfers in the world. McIlroy is looking to win his first PGA Tour title of the year, while Schauffele is looking to defend his title.
