Scottie Scheffler tells Rory McIlroy wife story while arrested in back of police car!

New captivating video footage shows Scottie Scheffler seated in the back of a police car, recounting a tale of Rory McIlroy using a police escort to ensure he made his tee time at the 2012 Ryder Cup.

The Louisville Metro Police Department has released a few videos today of the encounter with Scottie Scheffler.

All I can think about is just how calm Scottie seems to be throughout this whole situation. I mean I wouldn’t be this calm after being arrested, would you?

At one point, Scottie casually retold the tale of McIlroy getting his own police escort to make his tee time at the 2012 Ryder Cup.

Here was Rory’s explaining what happened:

To add further context to the McIlroy police escort story, the European Ryder Cup star got confused about his tee time ahead of his Sunday Singles match at Medinah.

Erica Stoll, then working for the PGA of America, was acknowledged by McIlroy for her assistance in arranging a police escort.

McIlroy went on to win his match against Keegan Bradley 2&1 and Team Europe would also recover a four-point deficit heading into the final day to win 14.5-13.5 in a Ryder Cup that was dubbed the ‘Miracle at Medinah’.

The Northern Irishman later began a relationship with Erica following that week, culminating in their marriage in April 2017.

They are now proud parents to their daughter, Poppy. Sadly the news emerged last month that McIlroy had ‘filed for divorce’.

In the latest update, Erica reportedly missed the deadline to reply

Watch the hilarious video below:

Louisville Metro Police Department released a number of previously unseen videos of Scheffler’s arrest earlier today (7 June).

One video shows the moment Scheffler was placed in handcuffs by officer Bryan Gillis.

“Man, I’m about to get arrested, I’m just trying to get to a tee time,” a shaken Scheffler is heard saying on camera.

Another video shows the arresting officer asking Scheffler whether Tiger Woods is really any good at golf?

Some standout quotes from the videos:

  • “You’re too casual to be the number one player in the world. You should have had a driver.”
  • “You’re 27 and you’re freaking playing in the PGA!”
  • “So I assume you’re pretty good if you’re playing in the PGA. Is Tiger as good as they say he is?”

Shock images of officer Gillis’ injuries and ‘ripped pants’ were also released today.

Scheffler was arrested on 17 May after he misunderstood the traffic flow situation following a fatal collision in the early hours outside of Valhalla GC ahead of the second round of the US PGA.

He went to jail for just over an hour, and was then released before going on to finish T8 in the second major of the season.

Scheffler was charged with second-degree assault of a police officer, third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving and disregarding traffic signals from an officer.

But all charges were dropped on 29 May.

Prosecutors said they simply did not have enough evidence to go forward with the case, and they asked a judge to close the case.

Scheffler and McIlroy are both competing in the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village this week.

They will then tee it up in the season’s third major at the US Open at Pinehurst No.2 in North Carolina.

Surely it cannot be as dramatic as the US PGA?!

Then again, anything seems possible in the pro game right now.
