A Quick Review of the TecTecTec KLYR Laser Rangefinder

The TecTecTec KLYR laser rangefinder impresses with its compact design and user-friendly interface. The addition of the slope feature ensures precision, while the magnetic component adds a touch of convenience. A product that delivers solid value.

This rangefinder is light, compact, easy to use and gives the player what they need. Slope adjustment, lock on pin feature, yards/meters, good battery life, magnetic clips, markers and case. The ergonomic size and weight make it easy to carry anywhere (I use it at tournaments following pros).

Setup & Ease of Use

It doesn’t feel cheap. You know, like some of the ones you might have bought on Temu or Aliexpress. It’s okay… we all do it. This thing was ready to go with the power button on top.

There’s also a mode button (“M”) that makes it easy to toggle. Here’s how it’s broken down:

• M1 = standard distance mode
• M2 = target lock with vibration for confirmation
• M3 = (only when slope’s engaged) this one adds slope angle, +/- vertical distance and adjusted distance from M2 setting

There’s the slider on the side that lets you know when Slope is turned off. When no colors are showing, it means it’s in ‘tournament mode’. There’s a strong magnet on the opposite side that you’ll clip to your belt or in our case, the golf cart.

Does It Work?

We took it out and wanted to make sure it actually worked… you know, because that is actually what matters. It does. The distances were quickly displayed and is within +/- 1 yard. We’re not ‘pro golfers’, basically just weekend warriors who can not accurately hit a 100 yard shot or a 105 yard shot based on feel. We’ll hit it ‘around 100’ and if it’s 95 or 105, we’re pretty damn happy. So a 1-2 yard difference on the measurement isn’t going to suddenly turn me into a pro.

Value

This TecTecTech KLYR laser rangefinder is $200 on their website, and $199.99 currently on Amazon (with free prime shipping).  That’s not a bad price at all for what this does. Other brands, for example the Bushnell Tour V6 is listed at $300. The Shift slope version adds another $100 onto that for a list price of $400.

For the price, the KLYR is tough to beat. Especially if you’re a weekend warrior and not a pro. The extra few hundred bucks could be spent on greens fees and/or some beers with your friends after the round.

Conclusion

It’s compact, fits onto either your belt, bag or cart pretty easily and comes with the warranty if it doesn’t hit the sweet spot for you. There’s 5 different colors on Amazon if you want to match anything or if you need something that pops out a bit more (the yellow) so you remember to use it.
